Former Prime Ministers
Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum – May his soul rest in peace
His highness, the belated Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid al Maktoum had been tasked with the formation and presidency of the first government upon the federation of the UAE in December 9th, 1971.
Ever since and until the day he passed away on January 4th, 2006, his highness had remained a true leader, and an honest contributor to the federal interest of the UAE. He had competently assumed his responsibility, and he had left the most remarkable fingerprints over the national affairs at the regional, Arab-world, and International Levels.
With his highness’s passing away, the Arab, Islamic, and the entire world had lost one of the bravest men, most prominent leaders, and a human who has earned the love and respect of all. May his soul rest in peace, and it is within his highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the UAE and Prime Minister that rests all the hope.
Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum – May his soul rest in peace
On April 30th, 1979, the Higher Federal Council of the UAE had decided to task His Highness, the belated Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Vice President of the UAE, Ruler of Dubai, with the formation of a new Cabinet for the UAE.
Upon formation of the UAE government on July 1st, 1979, His Highness had announced the outlines of the direction of the UAE government policy. In this regard, he had said:
"In appreciation of the magnitude of the responsibility bestowed upon me, I find it as a top obligation towards my family and my nation to be clear in what it is I call for and what it is that I believe must be done to achieve the goals for which I agreed to take on this responsibility in the first place. The Ministers and myself do not promise miracles, but we will do all what’s in our power to move the federation of the UAE forward on all grounds be it political, economic, or social. This requires, to begin with, the active participation of all UAE citizens, each within the area of their expertise in carrying responsibility and fulfilling duties."
