Mohammed attends DIFF closing ceremony

UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum attended the closing ceremony of the 2009 Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF) at the Madinat Arena this evening.
Sheikh Mohammed welcomed a select group of Arab entertainers to the UAE, praising their creative drama productions, which have played a large role in enriching the cultural output of the Arab world.
The event also saw the presentation of the Mohammed bin Rashid Arab Drama Awards with a total prize fund of $1 million given out to local television networks in various categories, including best Arabic drama production during the holy month of Ramadan.
Distributing the awards were Chairman of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority Sheikh Majid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Media Escort to Sheikh Mohammed and Chairman of Dubai Media Incorporated Ahmad Abdullah Al Sheikh, with the Syrian drama 'Time of Disgrace' bagging first prize.
More than 160 films were screened during the week-long DIFF 2009.
