Khalifa receives Mohammed

UAE President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan received Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum at Al Rawdha Palace this afternoon, in the presence of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

During their meeting, Sheikh Khalifa was briefed by Sheikh Mohammed on the results of his recent talks with international leaders, taking part in the three-day World Future Energy Summit, which concludes in Abu Dhabi today.

Sheikh Khalifa was informed that this, the third meeting of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) to be held in the UAE, proved to be a massive success in terms of management and organisation. The achievement comes as further evidence of the UAE's ability to stage large international events, as delegations from 142 IRENA-member-states and observers from 15 countries were hosted at the summit.

Highlighting the importance of safeguarding the UAE's environment and wildlife, Sheikh Khalifa stressed the need for developing green technology, as well as renewable energy sources to reduce the country's dependence on petroleum and oil-based products.

Following the meeting, Sheikh Khalifa hosted a luncheon banquet in honour of his guests.

Also present at the meeting were Abu Dhabi Ruler's Representative in the Eastern Region Sheikh Tahnoun bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Zayed Foundation Sheikh Ahmed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Presidential Affairs Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Sheikh Khalifa's Military Escort Sheikh Omar bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Department of Finance Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, Chairman of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority Sheikh Majid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Minister Of Presidential Affairs Ahmed Juma Al Zaabi, Commander General of Dubai Police Lt. General Dahi Khalfan Tamim, other sheikhs and senior officials.
