Donor organisations discuss transparency of foreign aid

A workshop held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Western Region and Chairman of the the UAE Foreign Aid Coordination Office (FACO) in Abu Dhabi discussed ways to develop and strengthen policies and procedures relating to financial accountability.
The Workshop organised by FACO in association with the Charity Commission for England and Wales and the Islamic Relief, UK came as part of FACO's dedicated efforts to promote the possibilities of national cadres in all fields related to humanitarian operations and ensure the maximum effectiveness of foreign aid for relief and development.
Director General of FACO Hazza Mohammed Falah Al Qahtani said that the workshop was in response to the request of several donors and charitable organizations based in the UAE to understand more about the issue of financial accountability and global best practices in this area. He noted that the interest in this subject is constantly growing with the increasing volume of aid provided by the country and with the growth of the efforts of the UAE authorities in terms of quality and quantity.
