UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum attended a ceremony marking the graduation of the 29th batch of graduates from UAE University, held at Al Ain Sports Club today under the patronage of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Also present to witness the 460 students graduate from UAE University were Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Umm Al Quwain Crown Prince Sheikh Rashid bin Saud bin Rashid Al Mualla, Ajman Crown Prince Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Abu Dhabi Ruler's Representative in the Eastern Region Sheikh Tahnoun bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Chancellor of UAE University Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Director General of Dubai Department of Information Sheikh Hasher bin Maktoum Al Maktoum, Court Undersecretary for the Ruler's Representative in the Eastern Region Sheikh Hazza bin Tahnoun bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Director of Sheikh Mohammed's Office Lt. General Musabbah Rashid Al Fattan, other sheikhs, ministers, senior officials, members of the diplomatic corps, university staff and a large gathering of the student's families.

Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan delivered an address in which he expressed his deep gratitude and loyalty to Sheikh Khalifa for his care and attention for higher education in the UAE, pledging to work hard to put UAE University on par with leading international institutions. He added that the country's seats of learning support the knowledge economy and strengthen national institutions by furnishing them with local talent, thus contributing to the state's development.

The University Chancellor also thanked and paid tribute to Sheikh Mohammed for supporting the university and for honouring the graduation ceremony with his presence. He affirmed that the university is guided by the vision and directives of Sheikh Mohammed, who places human development at the top of his list of priorities.

During his speech Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak noted that UAE University and its esteemed programmes received great support from Their Highnesses the Supreme Council Members and Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. One of the graduates, Sheikh Khalifa bin Saeed bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, took the stage, and, speaking on behalf of his class, expressed his great loyalty and devotion to the UAE's wise leadership, who provides the country's sons and daughters with education and employment opportunities, to set them on the path to success.

Shortly after Sheikh Mohammed and made his way to the podium alongside Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak and President of UAE University Dr. Abdullah Al Khanbashi, where he greeted and distributed degree certificates to the 460 graduates. Sheikh Mohammed congratulated the students and urged them to further their education to enrich their knowledge and experience. After comparing knowledge to an unquenchable thirst, Sheikh Mohammed assured the graduates that the country's leadership was behind them.

Graduates from the Faculty of Medicine then took the Hippocratic Oath before Sheikh Mohammed, pledging to carry out their duties with honesty and sincerity and to uphold their profession with honour.

Towards the end of the ceremony Sheikh Mohammed was presented with a commemorative gift to mark the occasion by Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak, as a token of the university's appreciation.
