Mohammed issues decision on standards specifications

UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has issued a decision regulating mandatory standards applied to goods and consumer products traded in the UAE.
The new legislation comes as part of the government's efforts to protect consumers and markets through boosting standardisation in accordance with international best practices, to address health and environmental concerns.
As per the decision, the Emirates Authority for Standardisation and Metrology will commence applying the new standards immediately, while ensuring that products and services are compatible with UAE society's best interests.
Among the items covered by the decision are fish and grain products, meat and electrical appliances.
