UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has attended the inaugural board meeting of the Federal Health Authority, which was held at the Presidential Palace in Abu Dhabi under the chairmanship of Minister of Health Dr Hanif Hassan.
On reviewing the meeting's agenda, Sheikh Mohammed stressed the importance of improving the UAE's health system through increasing quality standards at the country's health institutions. He also called for better management and organisation at such bodies to instil confidence in patients who currently seek medical treatment abroad.
Citing an earlier cabinet decision, Sheikh Mohammed asserted that the Federal Health Authority should spare no effort in raising the performance of the country's healthcare system to match international standards and to keep pace with the UAE's social and economic growth.
The authority's board is headed by the Minister of Health Dr Hanif Hassan with a membership of Dr Sultan Al Jabber (Vice Chairman), Saif Al Qubaisi, Dr Mariam Butti Al Mazrouoi, Dr Mohammed Butti Al Thani Al Shamsi and Ministry of Finance Representative Dr Mohammed Yousef Bani Yas.
International assistance has already been sought to establish the authority's framework, organisational structure and human resource system.
