Mohammed adopts principles of conduct and ethics
26 July 2010
UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has adopted a document setting out the principles of professional conduct and ethics to be applied to all employees working at federal government agencies.
The move is designed to create a work culture that upholds public servants' professional values, while fostering an environment of personal responsibility and respectful relations between colleagues. The new guidelines also seek to boost the state's reputation through promoting excellence, hard work, efficiency and good leadership at government institutions, with strong emphasis given to honesty, transparency and equality.
Engaging in activities that result in conflicts of interest and gaining preferential treatment through favouritism are sternly disapproved of under the new human resources document.
The document adopted by Sheikh Mohammed, which identifies 13 core values outlining professional behaviour and ethics, will apply to all government entities and will be disseminated to staff working therein.
