In an exclusive interview with Beijing Youth Daily, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid said: “Dubai is an international, open and diversified city. Over the past 2 or 3 decades, Dubai witnessed floods of investors from all over the world; additionally, its strategic geographical location, it played significant role to connect Central Asia and North Africa and Europe
Sheikh Mohammed also stated that he owes major part of his knowledge and wisdom to Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, Founder of the United Arab Emirates, and his father Sheikh Rashid, and he indicated that he was lucky to be close to them and comprehensively eye-witnessed their political and administrative experience. Mohammed Bin Rashid pointed out his sincere support and encouragement for youth to innovate and how he overcomes their mistakes as, he believes, mistakes are the natural was to learn and achieve success
Sheikh Mohammed also emphasized on the importance of UAE-Chinese relations and the need to strengthen cooperation between the two nations, not only in trade, but also in science, technology and renewable energy
His Highness pointed out that the leader must always enjoy positive energy and thinks enthusiastically to conquer challenges and obstacles. This energy empowers leaders with courage to confront obstruction and difficulties. On this aspect, he said: “I always encourage everybody to carry brave spirit, never give up and to truly believe that there is a way to achieve the objective
His Highness also highlighted the role of women in our community; he said that he proud of all Emirati women and that she enjoys complete equality; he added, over 80% of his office is female

26 January 2012 - Mohammed tours Arab Health Exhibition 2012
UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum toured the 37th Arab Health Exhibition concluding today at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
Around 3000 medical institutions representing 57 countries took part in the world's second largest gathering of medical and healthcare Professionals
Accompanying Sheikh Mohammed on his inspection visit at the Dubai International Convention Center were Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development and acting Health Minister Abdul Rahman Mohammed Al Owais, Director General of Dubai Health Authority Qadhi Saeed Al Murooshid, Director General of the Government of Dubai Media Office Ahmed Abdullah Al Sheikh, Dubai Director of Protocol and Hospitality Khalifa Saeed Suleiman and CEO of

During his visit, Sheikh Mohammed toured the exhibition's various sections, including the pavilions from Germany, China, South Korea, France, Turkey, USA, UK and Japan which are showcasing the latest medical equipment and technology
Sheikh Mohammed began his tour with a visit to the pavilion at the Dubai Health Authority, where he reviewed a model for Latifa Hospital (formerly Al Wasl Hospital) and familiarized himself with its various sections
At the German Siemens company’s stand, Sheikh Mohammed watched an X-ray computed tomography (CT) experiment through merging MRI with Ultra sound, the latest in this field worldwide. Sheikh Mohammed then stopped at Abu Dhabi Health Services Company, where he learnt about the latest progress there before visiting the South Korean Samsung’s pavilion, where he got acquainted with the latest innovations in the medical technology
During his tour, Sheikh Mohammed was briefed about the Dr. Sulaiman Al-Habib Medical Group (HMG) being built at Dubai Healthcare City at a cost exceeding Dh460 million
At the end of his tour, Sheikh Mohammed praised the strong participation in the event from the UAE's national institutions and companies from neighbouring countries, stressing the importance of the exhibition and the lectures as well as the accompanying conferences in benefiting the local professionals, acquainting them with the latest medical technology and research. He also underscored the importance of these exhibitions in the development of humanity

26 January 2012 - Mohammed visits Global Village
UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum made an inspection tour to the Global Village in Dubai this evening During his visit, Sheikh Mohammed toured a number of villages, including villages from Yemen, Turkey, Kuwait, Iran, Morocco, Syria, Egypt, UAE, Saudi Arabia, India, Spain and Qatar
Sheikh Mohammed also visited Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Humanitarian Foundation before going on to visit the youth’s Small and Medium Enterprises’ pavilions, which are supported by the Mohammed Bin Rashid Establishment for SME Development
Sheikh Mohammed expressed happiness over this big Arab and international gathering in the UAE, saying that it reflects the UAE’s importance as a link between the East and the West and a bridge connecting the world’s cultures and civilizations
Praising the idea of founding the global village in Dubai- the land of love, tolerance and peaceful coexistence, Sheikh Mohammed said that the village will remain a meeting oasis for all nationalities and peoples
Before concluding his tour, Sheikh Mohammed stopped at Mydan which houses Fazza Yola Competition, where he watched part of this sport

24 January 2012 - Mohammed restructures IHC Board of Directors
In his capacity as the Ruler of Dubai, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has issued Decree No. 33 restructuring the International Humanitarian City's (IHC) Board of Directors.
The Decree names Princess Haya bint Al Hussein as Chairperson of the IHC Board of Directors and Ebrahim Mohammed Bu Melha as Deputy Chairman.
The Decree also names Abdullah Ahmed Al Habbai, Abdullah Abdulrahman Al Shebani, Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Abdulrahman Ahmed Al Shamlan, Hilal Saeed Al Marri, Hashem Abdullah Al Qasim and Saeed Mohammed Hareb as members of the Board of Directors.
The Decree is effective from its date of issuance and will be published in the official gazette
22 January 2012 - Mohammed chairs Cabinet meeting
UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum chaired the UAE Cabinet meeting at the Presidential Palace in Abu Dhabi today
The meeting was held with the attendance of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Presidential Affairs Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan
During the meeting, Sheikh Mohammed emphasized that the government’s new legislation and laws submitted to the cabinet should keep pace with the rapid development of the UAE society so as to promote growth, preserve rights and consolidate confidence in the country’s legal economic and social regulations
The cabinet approved a federal draft law on the notary public, a move that comes within the framework of the government's strategy to update its legislatives in order to match the growth and development requirements of the community regarding the issuance of contracts and their authentication
The Council of Ministers also agreed to liberalise a number of trade agencies regarding the twelve essential commodities in accordance with the memo submitted by the Ministry of Economy to curb unjustified soaring prices of some commodities, boost principles of competition in the UAE markets and combat all types of monopoly and exploitation
The Cabinet gave the green light for the Union Railway Company to borrow AED4.7 billion from banks and international corporations to finance the construction of the Shah-Habshan-Ruwais Railway project to further boost the land transport and the national economy
The Council of Ministers also endorsed the Economic Cooperation Agreement signed between the UAE and Montenegro and sanctioned an agreement between the
UAE and India on Cooperation and Mutual Administrative Assistance in Customs Matters
The Cabinet also approved the budget of the National Media Council and the Federal Customs Authority for the fiscal year 2012
22 January 2012 - Mohammed receives ambassadors
UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum received the ambassadors of Hungary, Poland and Iraq to the UAE at the Presidential Palace in Abu Dhabi today
Sheikh Mohammed welcomed ambassadors Janos Gonci of Hungary, Adam Kachimovski of Poland and Arshad Tawfiq Ismael Al-Muselli of Iraq, wishing them success in their duties

19 January 2012 - Mohammed attends Bahrain International Airshow 2012
UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum returned home today following a visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Accompanying Sheikh Mohammed on the visit were Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation and Chief Executive of Emirates Group Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Director of Dubai Ruler's Court Mohammed Ibrahim Al Shibani, Director-General of Dubai Government Media Office Ahmad Abdullah Al Sheikh, Dubai Director of Protocol and Hospitality Khalifa Saeed Suleiman and a number of officials.
Earlier this day, Sheikh Mohammed arrived at Al Sakhir Air Base in Manama on board an Emirates Airbus A380 to participate in the opening ceremony of Bahrain International Airshow 2012. Sheikh Mohammed and the accompanying delegation were received by King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain and Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander-In-Chief of the Bahrain Defense Force Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa as well as a number of Bahraini ministers, dignitaries and civil and military officials.
Following the reception, Sheikh Mohammed and King Hamad opened the Royal Hospitality Hall at the new Sakhir Airbase in Manama in the presence of a large crowd of senior officials and guests to the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Sheikh Mohamed and delegates attended a banquet lunch hosted by King Hamad before touring the 2nd edition of Bahrain International Airshow 2012, which runs until January 21st. During the tour, Sheikh Mohammed acquainted himself with the latest technologies in civil and military aviation industries exhibited by different countries.
In a token of support for the king, government and peoples of Bahrain, Sheikh Mohammed, King Hamad and Prince Salman watched as the UAE Air Force's Al Fursan (The Knights) put on a flawless performance in an astounding aerobatic air show.
Sheikh Mohammed afterwards invited King Hamad bin Issa Al Khalifah and Director General of Saudi General Intelligence Prince Muqrin bin Abdul Aziz on a tour on board the Airbus A380. King Hamad congratulated Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum on the remarkable achievements of Emirates airlines.
Sheikh Mohammed applauded the efforts of Emirati pilots and encouraged them to acquire more skills and knowledge in the civil aviation industry, drawing attention to the sincere efforts of Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum in developing Emirates airlines since its establishment in 1985
17 January 2012 - Mohammed receives South Korean Prime Minister
UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum received the South Korean Prime Minister Kim Hwang-sik and his accompanying delegation at Zaabeel Palace this evening.
The two leaders discussed ways of boosting bilateral relations and cooperation between the UAE and South Korea in the various fields.
Welcoming his guest, Sheikh Mohammed expressed hope that the premier’s visit results in expanding cooperation and communication between the two countries' officials and peoples, pointing out to the competitive role of the Korean companies operating in the UAE in contributing to the building of the country's infrastructure and other construction projects.
The South Korean Premier expressed happiness with his first visit to the UAE since he assumed office as Prime Minister in his country, expressing admiration about the progress of the UAE over the past decade thanks to the country's wise leadership and its farsighted vision.

16 January 2012 - Mohammed receives Chinese Prime Minister
UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum received the visiting Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao at Abu Dhabi International Airport today
Welcoming the Chinese Premier, Sheikh Mohammed accompanied Jiabao to the platform of honour where they stood for the UAE and Chinese national anthems after which a 21-gun salute was fired to greet the guest
Sheikh Mohammed and Jiabao inspected the guard of honour then the Chinese Prime Minister greeted welcoming officials, including Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, senior civil and military officials, UAE Ambassador to China Omar Ahmed Udai Naseeb Al Bitar and the Chinese Ambassador to the UAE Gao Yusheng
After greeting the Chinese delegation, Sheikh Mohammed accompanied his guest to the grand hall at the airport where they exchanged cordial talks touching on the historical relations between China and the UAE. Then Sheikh Mohammed wished the visiting Chinese premier a successful visit that adds new momentum to the mutual relations between their two countries and peoples.
16 January 2012 - Mohammed amends DIFC Anti-Money Laundering law
In his capacity as Ruler of Dubai, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has issued a new law enacting amendments to the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) Law No 1 of 2004 (Regulatory Law 2004).
As per the new law, the DIFC Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Combating the Financing of Terrorism (CFT) requirements for Designated Non-Financial Businesses and Professions in the DIFC is transferred to the Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA).
In accordance with the amendment, effective today, the DFSA will be the single regulator and assumes responsibility for all supervision issues related to Anti-Money Laundering and Combating the Financing of Terrorism in the DIFC, and the enforcement of all laws related to them.
Previously, the Designated Non-Financial Businesses and Professions for Anti-Money Laundering and Combating the Financing of Terrorism was under the supervision the Dubai International Financial Centre Authority (DIFCA).
10 January 2012 - Mohammed attends graduation ceremonies
Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum attended ceremonies marking the graduation of female medical and pharmacology students, held at the Al Johara Hall in Madinat Jumairah in Dubai today
Also attending the ceremonies for students graduating from Dubai Medical College and Dubai Pharmacy College were Dubai Deputy Ruler Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Youth, Culture and Community Development Abdul Rahman Mohammed Nassir Al Owais, Chairman of the Board of Trustees for both colleges Hajj Saeed Ahmed Lootah, Director General of Dubai Health Authority Qadhi Saeed Al Murooshid, senior officials and a large gathering of the graduates' families
Following a rendition of the national anthem, the chairman of both colleges, Hajj Saeed Ahmed Lootah, addressed the audience thanking Sheikh Mohammed for sponsoring the ceremony and for his continuous support to the colleges since their establishment 26 years ago. He also praised His Highness for his continuous backing for science and education in the country, stressing that the colleges translate Sheikh Mohammed’s vision in implementing its programmes and initiatives
Sheikh Mohammed then watched a documentary about the development of education in the UAE and another about His Highness’ honouring mothers on the occasion of the sixth anniversary of accession as Ruler of Dubai
Graduates from the faculty of medicine then stood before Sheikh Mohammed and took the Hippocratic Oath
Sheikh Mohammed honoured the top ten graduates and a number of college students who currently hold leadership positions in various institutions across the country
Sheikh Mohammed then congratulated the 126 medical and 59 pharmaceutical graduates, wishing them a promising future, before standing for photos with them
10 January 2012 - Mohammed receives UN Under-Secretary General

During the meeting, which was held in the presence of Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Dubai Deputy Ruler Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Sheikh Mohammed and the UN Official discussed matters related to human and economic development implemented by UNDP in several poor and needy areas
Sheikh Mohammed was briefed by Grynspan about the UN World Human Development Report for 2011 in which the UAE topped the Arab ranks and got the 30th position globally
Sheikh Mohammed and his guest also discussed ways of enhancing communication and cooperation between the UAE Government institutions and the UNDP office in the country for further coordination and consultation on issues related to development and human aides and on those of mutual concern
Grynspan thanked Sheikh Mohammed for the humanitarian assistance being provided by the UAE to the areas hard hit by droughts, natural disasters and wars, praising the UAE's record in this respect

9 January 2012 - Mohammed orders allocation of 206 houses to Emiratis
UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has ordered the allocation of 206 houses for Emiratis at a total cost of AED242 million and approved AED78 million as housing loans for 105 Emiratis in Al Barsha 1 - South area, of which 32 houses will be allocated to low-income Emirati nationals
Reflecting keenness to guarantee the well being of Emirati nationals by meeting their appropriate housing needs, Sheikh Mohammed directed that loan waiver applications and housing loan applications should be processed swiftly
Al Barsha 1 - South residential project, the largest in Dubai with a total cost of AED1.24 billion, is divided into six areas according to Sami Gargash, CEO of the Mohammad Bin Rashid Housing Establishment. Phase I of the project will cost a total of AED242 million
In order to speed up the process at MBRHE, Gargash said that Sheikh Mohammed has given directives to distribute houses on beneficiaries as soon as each phase is completed, rather than waiting for the completion of the whole project. Gargash added that 252 applications have been received so far and the door is open for registration
9 January 2012 - Mohammed launches "Solar Park"
UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has launched the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park project today in the presence of Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum
The Dh12-billion project, which will cover an area of 48 square kilometers, is to be located in Sieh Al Dahl area on Dubai-Al Ain RoadIn a speech by Chairman of the Dubai's Supreme Energy Council Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum on the occasion, delivered on his behalf by Vice Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Energy Council Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed announced the launch of the project that is regarded as a pioneering and first of its kind in the region. Sheikh Ahmed pointed out that the implementation of the project, which is part of Dubai energy strategy 2030, will be in the second quarter of this year
Sheikh Ahmed said that the project is a translation to Sheikh Mohammed’s vision towards achieving sustainable development in the UAE. He added that the UAE gives utmost attention to the diversification of energy sources thanks to the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and those of UAE Vice President Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum who stresses the need for preserving resources, environment and energy
Sheikh Ahmed concluded his speech by saying that the first stage of the project will be implemented through utilizing photoelectrical plates to produce 10 mega watts of energy in 2013 with a total productivity of 1000 mega watts at the completion of the project in 2
Sheikh Mohammed watched a demonstration about the future vision of the giant project and Dubai’s achievements in the various fields, highlighting the necessity to finding sustainable energy
Sheikh Mohammed saw a huge maquette of the Solar Park before being briefed by Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer about the project, its sections, implementation stages, operation and productivity. Sheikh Mohammed then signed on a special plate to mark the start of the project
Sheikh Mohammed expressed satisfaction with the project and thanked the people in charge for their great efforts, wishing them continuous success
