Key Achievements
Developing the human resources in the Federal Government
The UAE Human Resources law came to serve the best interest of employees as it clearly defines their rights without discrimination.
Launched in September 2008, the new Human Resources Law for the Federal Government of the UAE is characterized by modernity and comprehensiveness. Its articles and directives include new systems for appointment, promotion, and vacations that are most suited for the phase the UAE is going through. The law establishes and promotes important values like competitiveness and dynamism in government work. It strengthens concepts of self-development and trust.
The ultimate goal is to transform the nature of jobs within the Federal Government to become dynamic and challenging. The Human Resource Development Authority will be overseeing the execution of the law, ensuring the formation of a central grievance unit, with distributed grievance committees throughout all ministries and federal government entities.
Features of the new Human Resources Law
- Develop a new regulatory framework for human resources in the federal government in order to enhance government performance.
- The new law links different types of bonuses, promotions and rewards with staff performance. This will result in higher performance levels and more motivation towards personal achievement, team work spirit, and ongoing learning and development.
- Achieving a work-life balance to ensure the highest levels of employee satisfaction across the federal government.
- The law stresses the need to build a corporate culture to the highest standards in order to stimulate the involvement of staff to ensure equal opportunities, and be characterized by fairness, security, and sensitivity to cultural and individual differences.
- The law allows for flexibility in the types of employment within the Federal Government, wherein employees can be hired on a part-time, temporary, and private-contract basis, in addition to full-time employment.
