The largest budget in the history of the UAE

The UAE cabinet, headed by His Highness Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President, Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, approved a federal budget of AED42.2bn ($11.5bn) for 2009, a 21 per cent increase from the 2008 budget.

The UAE Cabinet, headed by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, approved the largest federal budget in the history of the UAE for 2009 of Dh 42.2 bn. with an increase of 21 % from last year. The largest budget in the UAE history has come to reflect the UAE government’s efforts to enhance the country’s economic growth and keep it at elevated levels that exceed those found anywhere else in the world.

The UAE’s economy has always been a healthy one, allowing surpluses in federal budget to exceed 10% of GDP from 2004-2008 and since the 2005 federal budget, the budgetary allocation has increased by almost 100%.The UAE government has wisely managed its budget allocations to end up with a balanced federal budget and the largest in its history.
